Bande Dessinée - Meeting with Christian Robert de Massy and Éric Pessan

Presentations

Canadian cartoonist Christian Robert de Massy has just finished an old project of almost 20 years that took shape in Samedi, an atypical work published by Patayo. This work is accompanied by a text by the writer Éric Pessan.

During this encounter, Christian Robert de Massy and Éric Pessan will talk about their work and their collaboration on this book, which is very much in the air of the 21st century.

Christian Robert de Massy is a concept artist who has been drawing for as long as he can remember. His university education in biology did not keep him away from his first love, as he became an illustrator, working mainly for Hollywood studios. With Samedi, he signs a comic book that required nearly 20 years of reflection and work, offering the reader a parable on a suffering world in the heart of which it is necessary to sink in order to give it indispensable care.

Novelist, poet and essayist, Éric Pessan is also a playwright to whom we owe plays and radio fictions created for France Culture. He is a multi-talented writer, accustomed to collaborating with visual artists. It is at the request of the editor in charge of the collection "Des cases, des langues, des mondes" at Patayo that he wrote the long text which accompanies, page after page, the book of Christian Robert de Massy.

Join them online or at the Alliance Française de Paris to learn more about their latest book!

A book signing will be held at the end of the encounter.

This event is organized by Alliance Française Paris, in partnership with Salon SoBD and with the support of Institut français and Fondation des Alliances Françaises.
