All our courses in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) in order to ensure continuous progress. The framework allows means the skills you have acquired by the end of your stay will be accredited.
Read the descriptions for each level and locate yourself in the CEFRL.
Discovery level
You can understand and use daily and familiar expressions as well as simple statements for basic requirements.
You can introduce yourself or someone else and ask someone questions about where they live, their relationships, their family, etc., and you can answer the same questions.
You can communicate in a basic way if you are spoken to slowly, clearly and in a cooperative manner.
Estimated number of hours to reach the next level:
Intensive course (20 hours per week): 80 hours over 4 weeks
Extended course (9 hours per week): 72 hours over 8 weeks
Evening course (4 hours per week): 96 hours over 24 weeks
Intermediate level
You can understand frequently used, isolated phrases and expressions about normal, important subjects such as basic personal and family information, purchases, your immediate environment and your job.
You can communicate during basic, ordinary tasks by asking for basic and direct information about familiar and ordinary topics.
You can describe your training and your immediate environment in basic terms and can talk about topics relating to your immediate requirements.
Estimated number of hours to reach the next level:
Intensive course (20 hours per week): 120 hours over 6 weeks
Extended course (9 hours per week): 126 hours over 14 weeks
Evening course (4 hours per week): 138 hours over 32 weeks
Threshold level
Can understand the essential points when clear and standard language is used and the discussion is around familiar topics to do with work, education, leisure, etc. You can cope in most situations that occur while travelling in an area where the target language is spoken.
You can speak in a basic and coherent way about familiar topics and areas of interest.
You can talk about an event, an experience or a dream, describe a hope or a goal and briefly explain your reasons or motivation behind a project or idea.

Intensive course (20 hours per week): 160 hours over 8 weeks
Extended course (9 hours per week): 162 hours over 18 weeks
Evening course (4 hours per week): 144 hours over 36 weeks
Advanced level
You can understand the fundamental content of concrete or abstract subjects in a complex text, including a technical discussion about your area of knowledge.
You can communicate with a degree of spontaneity and ease, such as talking to a native speaker without any difficulty for either party.
You can express yourself clearly and in detail on a wide range of subjects, and you can give an opinion on a current topic and explain the advantages and disadvantages of different possibilities.
Estimated number of hours to reach the next level:
Intensive course (20 hours per week): 200 hours over 10 weeks
Extended course (9 hours per week): 180 hours over 20 weeks
Evening course (4 hours per week): 160 hours over 40 weeks
Independent level
You can understand a wide range of extended and demanding texts and manage to capture implicit meanings.
You can express yourself spontaneously and fluently without any apparent need to search for your words.
Can use language effectively and flexibly in social, professional or academic life.
You can express yourself on complex subjects in a clear and well structured way and demonstrate a mastery of organised, articulate and cohesive speech.

Master level
You can effortlessly understand everything you read or hear.
You can repeat facts and arguments from various written and oral sources by summarising them consistently.
You can express yourself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely and can make distinct nuances of meaning about complex subjects.
