Literary encounter : Tahar Ben Jelloun

Winner of the Goncourt Prize in 1987 for his novel La nuit sacrée, which has been translated into more than forty languages, Tahar Ben Jelloun studied French at the French high school in Tangier until the age of eighteen before studying philosophy in Rabat. In 1971, he arrived in France and studied psychology, after which he obtained a doctorate in social psychiatry.
This meeting, hosted by Bernard Magnier, will be an opportunity for the author to discuss his latest book Les Amants de Casablanca, published by Gallimard in 2023. This book tells the story of Nabile and Lamia, a solid couple who fall apart the day the young woman falls for another man. In this new novel, Tahar Ben Jelloun questions the freedom of women in a world dominated by men and explores the themes of love, marriage, desire, but also religion and human contradictions.
After the talk, the author will sign his latest book Les Amants de Casablanca.
