Rita Mestokosho is a poet and writer from Ekuanitshit, an Innu community on Quebec's Côte-Nord. A committed activist, her work exposes her struggle to preserve her native land, language and culture. She will be presenting her poetry collection, "Atiku ute. Le cœur du caribou", published in 2022.
"The word freedom doesn't exist in Innu-aimun. The caribou is freedom."
A poet, writer, essayist and editor born in Cavaillon, Haiti, Rodney Saint-Éloi is the author of some fifteen books of poetry. In 2021, he published "Les racistes n'ont jamais vu la mer", which he co-wrote with Yara El-Ghadban.
Both are published by Mémoire d’encrier, a publishing house founded and run by Rodney Saint-Eloi.
These two authors will share their experiences of writing in French at a meeting hosted by Bernard Magnier, followed by a book sale and signing session.
This event is organized by the Alliance Française de Paris, with the support of the Fondation des Alliances Françaises.
